3. Reflection

  • What have I learnt in this module?
Looking back on this module, I’ve learned so much about the design process, from brainstorming and sketching to final execution. One of the biggest takeaways for me is understanding how different design principles, such as contrast, balance, and movement, play a crucial role in creating a strong composition. I also gained hands-on experience with Adobe Illustrator, which pushed me to improve my digital illustration and layout skills.
  • What did I enjoy the most?
What I enjoyed the most was the creative freedom to develop my own poster. I loved being able to explore different ideas and push my limits in design. I also enjoyed experimenting with different color schemes and compositions to create a visually engaging piece. The feedback sessions were particularly helpful because they pushed me to see my design from different perspectives and make improvements that I wouldn’t have thought of on my own. It was exciting to see how small adjustments, like shifting a character’s position or tweaking colors, could significantly enhance the overall design.
  • What did I not enjoy the most?
On the other hand, what I found the most difficult was handling revisions. Sometimes, reworking a design after feedback felt overwhelming, especially when I had to change elements I was already happy with. But through this, I learned the importance of flexibility and problem-solving in the creative process. Additionally, I found that time management was crucial, as I often spent too much time perfecting small details instead of focusing on the bigger picture.
  • What have I learnt about myself through this module?
This module also taught me a lot about myself. I realized that I tend to overthink small details, which sometimes slows me down. However, I’ve also discovered that I enjoy storytelling through visuals and that I’m more resilient than I thought when it comes to refining my work.  I also learned that I work best when I receive structured feedback, as it helps me focus on what needs improvement rather than getting lost in unnecessary revisions.
  • What has changed and what has not in my learning journey?
Throughout this journey, my approach to design has definitely evolved. I’ve become more confident in my ability to take feedback constructively and make improvements. I’ve also become more confident in my ability to justify my design choices, which is something I struggled with before. However, what hasn’t changed is my passion for creativity, I realized that I still love bringing ideas to life through design.
  • What are my aspirations?
Looking ahead, I hope to continue refining my skills and exploring more about visual storytelling. Whether it's through illustration, motion graphics, or other mediums, I want to keep pushing my creativity and challenging myself. My aspiration is to develop a unique design style and, eventually, create works that leave a lasting impact. This module has given me a strong foundation, and I’m excited to see where my design journey takes me next.
