REFLECTION

This project ended up meaning so much more to me than I expected. At first, I saw it as just another design assignment or something technical that I needed to complete. But as I started working through the ideas and piecing everything together, it became something a lot more personal. Choosing the theme was the first challenge. I was tempted to go for something abstract or playful, but when I remembered that we had to use at least 50% of our own photos, I took a step back and asked myself what truly felt meaningful. That’s when City Inspiration: Beauty – The Scenery of Hometown stood out.

Throughout this project, I also learned how to use Photoshop more confidently. Before this, I only had a basic understanding of the tools. But through this exercise, I started picking up new techniques like layer masking, blending modes, color correction, and how to composite different images together in a cohesive way. It was a mix of trial and error, online tutorials, and a lot of patience. Learning how to turn a blank canvas into something expressive using Photoshop has been one of the most rewarding parts of the whole experience.

This week, everything started to come together. It was exciting, but also a little overwhelming at times. I wanted to get every detail right, and creating something that feels real and makes people feel something. And in doing that, I found a deeper appreciation for my roots and for how those roots continue to inspire where I’m going next.
